Well its been a good while since i've been online !I decided not to pursue a career in the Merchant Navy and turned down 3 offers of cadetships.I stayed working as a Bosun on the Caledonian Cannal onboard "Ros Crana" , it was my dream job .I worked from 6am-10pm 6 and a half days a week for 7 months , I met friends for life and discovered some truely amazing locations and have found happyness with my life that I just have not found in the past.

I have gathered a min of 1500 Nautical Miles and so much life experience , at the end of the day I may not have eared big dollars but what I have gained otherwise has been overwhelming and well worth the time.

Over the season I had a 5 meter Humber rib with a new 60 HP 4 stroke Yamaha Engine , she was a fabulous vessel to skipper.I had many a great saving private Ryan style beach landings throughout the months .I was able to spot and rescue 3 vessels and be rescued once due to gearbox failure (which occured on my 1 week on the sister ship !).

I have gained so much experience in everything from my rib driving abilities - anchoring-helmship-life!I finished a few weeks ago and am now living in Corpach, Fort William and hoping to start a job up Nevis Range as a Lift Operator for the winter.

I intend to do a rather pricey course at a Nautical College which will qualify me to be a Chief Engineer onboard a variety of vessels which are up to 200 tonnes and 60 miles offshore , Since I have been working with 2 engines every day for the season I have got a taste for oil and grease so want to do this course .

I hope to work in the Great Glen again next year either as a Bosun or Engineer, the Merchant Navy will wait in the shadows for now as I love the Highlands and the boats here too much to just walk away from to return to many years in the future no matter how much of a temptation it may be.

For me at this point in time , I'm exactly where I should be in life and made one of the best decisions by turning down the cadetship to continue my job as a Bosun .It certainly was the hardest desicion I have ever had to make!

I love the sea in all aspects , especially the adventure and mysery to evolves around it .Although boats are my love and insperation in life!

I am scottish & believe in and fully support Scottish indepence from the union , I live and breathe Scotland .I speak some Gaelic (only a few phrases ! but wish to learn more but its not exactly a common class/course)

I go onboard the waverley during the summer and am a member of the psps and ypw www.y-p-w.co.uk/ ypw .

I went to James watt college in Greenock , I studied intermediate maths ,spanish, psycholgy, chemistry and int 2 and higher english. Im planning to do a deck officer cadetship and to train at Shetland and to work deep sea.

I take alot of waterscape/landscape photos and am trying to teach myself more about photography and find insperation from artisits worldwide with opposing views on what art is.

I sail as a volunteer Bosun with OYTS (Ocean Youth Trust Scotland) and do dinghy sailing also do a fair deal of swimming .Like to have a laugh with people who can have a good sense of humour and dont take life too seriously.
